Well, not quite alone...I have a fabulous little partner...
But, why have I been quiet lately??? Unless you have been living under a rock, you know that the Presidential campaign is exploding as it's fast approaching its election day and of course, the big Hurricane Season is in full bloom. It directly affects me because that means that Sammy's TV station is busy with facilitating many remote reporters and their very needy meteorologists. So, struggling as a single mom is what I am trying to manage. With Crystal being gone, her chores have become my chores. But keeping our pet fish, Pepito, alive is not an easy one for me. But, I am motivated because I am more afraid of being killed by Crystal as she loves him so! Plus, Isabela is now a school girl! With that comes homework, more bible story time, fun little show-and-tell projects to assemble and then the random "please send an apple, peeled, cored, and cut for applesauce making". Of course, we still have to have our play time with dolls, reading books, writing any random words, fun with art supplies or beauty shop projects. Also, we have our little practices for her new ballet and tap class! I have no idea what to do, but I just follow her lead. whew! Good thing I don't have to cook every night since Sammy isn't home until 9pm anyway and there are so many little Mexican / Guatemalan meals you can make with 3 ingredients or less. Tomorrow's? Baked plaintain (bananas) with black beans topped with cream or queso blanco. For dessert? Newman's Organic Chocolate Sandwich Cookies (healthier version of Oreos)with decaf cafe con leche.
Also, with Sammy being so involved at this job, I may be left to care for ourselves with whatever Hurricane Ike decides to do. I am actively looking for hotels in Austin, Texas, hopefully to leave by Thursday. I am having no luck! I am looking outward..maybe even Dallas. Who knows. My main concern with having to leave is always Isabela. One day without air-condition can be very harmful to her heart. She can not ever be too cold or too hot. If we lose power even with a powerful downpour, she can be in trouble...I realllly wish I had family scattered around northern Texas so that we had somewhere to slumber safely...

Oh, did I mention she has Croup today? Yup, she has been sleeping in our bed for a few days now and her pediatrician put her on a steroid. I think we can safely say that since she's been around kids at her school this summer, she has had either strep throat, colds and now Croup just about every other week. My poor baby...her coughs really hurt her :-(
