The Many Faces of Bela

I know exactly what I need to hunt down for Isabela's summer birthday party!

Not only does she love clothes and style, but apparently, she is fascinated with the creation of them. Every time we visit my alterations lady, Norma, which is a lot, Isabela loves stepping up in front of the mirror with a new ensemble that needs "taking up", so she says. This time, she went into the backroom as we waited for Norma to finish my curtains, to make something for "her baby". The sewing machine pictured is over 40 yrs. old. Looks like I need to invest in one of our own. Actually,I thought about buying myself a sewing machine and taking a new stab at sewing. But, you know, the time issue is always difficult. My mother taught me how to sew many years ago when she used to make custom curtains to sell to friends. I used her machine to modify my thrift store clothes and create dresses for my dolls out of patterns my mother used to buy me when she had a little extra money. Oh how fun I thought it was!
This little girl is throwing me into the kitchen more, too! Her love for cooking and baking provides such fun activities for us at home. As much as I do not share her fondness for it all, I sure do jump at the chance to join her.

Jennifer Hill, are you sure she wasn't meant for you!? She is a cook, baker, seamstress, and singer...just like you! Looks like we will be seeing you more often in Dallas. I am sure Isabela will just love it if I left her with you for a long weekend. I am sure you will speak the same language without uttering a single word!

I would LOVE to have her anytime! But, ugh, that pic of me. Eek!

You are on our minds this week, Bela, even if we can't be there until later. See you soon!
