Business Trip #1

Going on my first, of several, business trip this week. By "first", I mean, first one since being Isabela's mommy. I'm going so that I can enhance my skill-set and so that I can educate other educators. I'm nervous about leaving Isabela for a few days, but with a great deal of infused guilt, I am really looking forward to the break. ME time. There's a lot to be said for it.

It's time. It's ok. This life is also about "me", right?

This one? The reason for my determination and inspiration. Whenever Jan speaks, people listen. I want to be like her when I grow up. My former Principal. 23 years my elder, now my friend, my wine companion, dance partner, and my role model/mentor. When I signed up for the position I have, she didn't think it was enough. While running a prestigious elementary school in the Memorial area, she consistently bugged me to interview for Assistant Principal positions, even though I hadn't graduated with the certification yet. That's her. That's why I connect so well with her. Enough is never enough. She feels this world of children needs me on a taller platform. Whether it's true or not, It's people like Jan who I need in my life. I appreciate the appreciation for my existence.
