Just Because

Isabela: Mami, I really need some time right now, by myself, to make you a surprise. Please do not look.
Me: (smiling) ( wondering what she will disorganize, or waste)
Isabela: ( 10 minutes later) Ta Da! This is not for your birthday, not for Christmas, but just because I love you!
Me: ( I open) Wow! Look at all those pencils! My favorite are the ones with ducks on them! Why this?
Isabela: Because you do a lot of homework. So you need lots of pencils and a staple remover for all of your papers ( I guess she remembers that 1,200+ page binder of field work/notes I lugged around to Colorado).

Just in time. As of one hour ago, I have requested permission to take my state boards this Fall and submitted my application for Graduation in December. Two more classes left!
The " just because" gifts, a very serious norm around here. Anytime, anywhere. The calendar shouldn't designate. Almost makes me hate Valentine's Day.
