Any little chance I get, I try to inform Isabela on world events. I want her to respect every one's purpose in this life and at least at this stage, be aware that she is not the only one in this world. There are times that I talk about social events while we are brushing our teeth or taking a shower. In an effort to share our resources with everyone else on our planet, we are implementing little ways of life to be more "green" and talking about why we need to do that. We discuss things like how we have to conserve water so that everyone in our planet has some too. We are learning to use more paper than plastic. We talk about how we have to drive safely so that we don't hurt anyone around us.
But, lately, the conversation has been around the kids in China. In this morning's conversation, I was really talking out loud to myself. I might have said way too much for Isabela to appropriately handle. As I was spreading toothpaste on my brush, I was wishing (out loud) that the children affected by the earthquake had toothpaste for their brush. I was wishing that they also had had a good night's sleep. I was wishing that today, they would hear themselves laugh as they were playing in the midst of recovery. Isabela looked up at me and asked me where China was. Then she asked me if I could taker her. Then she said "I will play with them." I was so pleased to hear that she is in tune and that it's important to her, too. But, a couple of hours later, as we were strolling through the park, she asked me again where China was. I explained to her as best I could....but, I felt so badly that I gave her something to worry about. I think what we will do when she wakes up is start a savings jar with lose change so that she can see us make a donation...maybe we will write loving words to the orphans in China...for sure, we will pray.
